Our Stories!

I wanted to let you know that Mary has been such a caring professional in my care this week…I am just very grateful to her for taking the time to take care of me.

Jennifer and her team at Salute’ Nutrition have been incredibly helpful for my diabetic patients, and have improved their health immensely.  She is my “go to” diabetes educator in northern Seattle area, and gets my highest recommendation!

Jen was the first doctor to make my diabetes make sense. My brother and I got diagnosed with diabetes at the same time last year. It was a very humbling and frustrating experience. My visits with Jen bring a sense of clarity to my situation with diabetes. For once since my diagnosis I feel in touch with my own body. With regular visits I finally feel like I have control over my health.

Making the decision to see a nutritionist on a monthlyish basis has helped me stay consistent and always moving towards my health goals for the past yearish. Jennifer is very knowledgeable and supportive and able to change plans or encourage me with the right things at the right time.  If you have been trying to lose weight on your own for a long time with lots of ups and downs like myself in the past this is a great accountability partner and someone to share information with you that you wouldn’t have known otherwise.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1971 when I was 4 years old. Control of my blood sugars has always been an issue for me, and the constant rigid, judgmental, hardnosed approach by doctors did not make anything easier for me. Since meeting Jennifer at the request of my (modern and forward thinking) physician), my diabetes has been in the best control it has ever been, and my goal of losing weight has become a reality. Her friendly, realistic approach to things makes it so easy for me, and her knowledge of the tools that are out there to help people with my condition is vast. She is deeply caring, listens, and has an understanding of what diabetics live with that I have never seen before in a non-diabetic person. She is nonjudgmental, east to talk with, and approachable. Meeting her and receiving her care is the best thing that has ever happened for my diabetic care and peace of mind.

Jennifer has been wonderful in gently guiding me with my nutrition journey amongst some big life changes (moving and new job). I am excited to see what the future holds for me and am thankful to have her support behind that.

Jamie has been amazing to work with. Her depth of knowledge of what the underlying causes of the condition as well as what is needed long term has been incredibly helpful. She has helped set regular goals to provide the change of mindset I needed to come to terms with living with a chronic condition. I highly recommend her. I am very grateful for the support she provides.

I have been a patient of Jennifer’s before salute nutrition. I didn’t have T1 diabetes when I was a kid or teenager. Too cut a long story short, unfortunately I have been a T1 diabetic for 28 year and have to admit that I fired ‘every single diabetic professional’ I came in contact with… They wouldn’t listen to me, they very much believed in the cookie-cutter approach, and they felt that they knew more about diabetes than I did even though I lived with it every day. In the end, they couldn’t seem to help me regulate anything. What they mostly did though was lecture me, blame me for everything that went wrong, and didn’t try to educate me. As a result, I had given up on diabetic care and specialist of any kind including endocrinologist. I fired them all. Sounds crazy but they weren’t helping me, so if they couldn’t and I couldn’t then what?

I met Jennifer…and I have to admit that she’s extremely knowledgeable, she tailored everything for ‘me’ and my way of life, she “listened”, and cared. Cared? Weird huh? To be honest, at another facility when I first met Jennifer (not this one) I was assigned to someone else that I just didn’t hit it off with (not important why)…So take a wild guess with what I was about to do…walk out and never return. In comes Jennifer. She asked me in to find out what happened, literally listened to me, and told me not to worry that I would be her patient even though she was full. I couldn’t believe it. That is the best thing that could have happened to me. Because she showed me that she actually cared, I gave her a chance. Anyway, to cut a long story short, when I became her patient, my total daily insulin was over 300 units/day. Now? They range from 60-90 units per day. That’s how good she is. I have no complications and I am very happy that she deals with my insanity 😀

Thank you Jennifer, you are literally the absolute best…

Jamie is a very considerate knowledgeable nutritionist that really helps me reach my goals. She gently, over time guides you along to the goals that we mutually set up to reach.

I never really feel that I’m being pushed unless she needs to get a response. She gets results.

She is the real deal for helping you with diabetes as coach. She meets with me individually and I have taken a class with her that was very good and explained a lot about my conditions and how to manage them.

Jennifer is the healthcare provider I’ve been hoping for all my life!! (Pun intended) Knowledgeable, experienced, engaged and personable. i was referred to her for help with nutrition – I have several competing chronic things going on and she’s made insightful observations and valuable suggestions that have and will continue to contribute significantly to my overall health and well being.

Thank you Jennifer!! You’ve set the bar at a new height!!
